Sad to lose her for an entire evening, but happy at the prospect of staying up late by convincing the teenaged babysitter that our mom would let us do that, and let us drink Pepsis on the couch while watching Mannix on tv. Funny how fragrance works on our memories that way. I am a mother now and when my daughters smell Annick Goutal Songes they say that smells like mom! By the way, they also love fragrance, my work is done!cruellahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18189521698544070141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-879943265889828379.post-48229539682937546852011-03-23T19:34:29.469-04:002011-03-23T19:34:29.469-04:00Reading this post was sheer delight for me -- than...Reading this post was sheer delight for me -- thank you so much!Bess Lovejoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00583966301363932506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-879943265889828379.post-87543124392069833352011-03-23T18:28:27.610-04:002011-03-23T18:28:27.610-04:00this is a lovely post. very poetic.this is a lovely post. very poetic.kate s.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06010700735716788710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-879943265889828379.post-42630505692223021002011-03-23T18:12:07.628-04:002011-03-23T18:12:07.628-04:00I just received BPAL's "Nocnitsa" in...I just received BPAL's "Nocnitsa" in the mail, and it smells like a haunted forest- the scent is named after a slavic hag of the woods, it's murderous and mysterious!

I cannot see what flowers are at my feet,
nor what soft incense hangs upon the bows,
but, in embalmed darkness guess each sweet,
wherewith the seasonable month endows
the grass, the thicket, and the fruit tree wild,
white hawthorn, the pastoral eglantine,
and mid-May's eldest child, the coming musk rose, full of dewy wine,
the murmurous haunt of flies on summer eves.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-879943265889828379.post-1685268548727188462011-03-23T16:22:38.431-04:002011-03-23T16:22:38.431-04:00wow! what a fantastic post. As for me, I didn't really pick up fascination with perfumes until I got a bit older. Maybe because my mom (and other family members) just had the usual fragrances like Oscar de la Renta and Elizabeth Arden's Red Door. Neither which I liked. I always love reading what Mlle Ghoul has to share. My personal favorite fragrance to breathe in is Calvin Klein's Euphoria, and I think euphoria is exactly what it is. Reminds me of a field of flowers at the midnight hour surrounded by intoxication.
