a year older and foxes.

lately i've been obsessed with foxes. their jawbones, their teeth. i've even begun writing a story about a man with a fox head & a petite albino named veda. i don't know why or how i begin my obsessions, but once fixed, they are firmly planted for a time until they unravel or stay put. anyway, i recently stumbled on the new work of lindsey carr aka little robot. her paintings have always been beautiful, but her new work incorporates a wider color palate, a more sophisticated hand and of course, foxes. prints of her work can be found here, as well as the above 2 only here.
further reading on her fox muse here.
images of the above two works framed here.

oh! i love her... especially "morpheus" and "procession"!!!

i saw a red fox at midnight last night (the switching to your birthday)...

you should rent this movie, "the fox and the child" if you haven't seen it...

yes, foxes have always felt like a familiar to me...

one used to visit me in the mornings when i opened the preschool by myself. she'd scamper up to the windows and watched while i set up the easels...

sending love today...

I recently discovered Lindsey's work too, just awesome isn't it?!

I love the muted colour palatte; gives her pieces a real timeless quality.

Great blog!

My mum has a fascination for foxes as well, and I do like them myself. If you want to read something interesting, there's a book called Lady into Fox about a man who's wife turns into a fox. I read it yeeeeears ago, but I think it was set in the English landed gentry in the 1900s. It was a lovely book, Amazon has it.

There's also an artist called Vali Myers who was a big fox fan too.
