alex garcia does gray ladies.

even though i downed a cup full of fizzy, lemony sleepy time medicine for my cold, i can't sleep. instead i'm burning my eyeballs online in the dark and lusting after alex garcia's work. not only does he paint these amazing gray ladies, he tattoos like a dream. i recently purchased some really lovely birch wood panels from a friend of a friend who owns the most amazing wood shop / magical saw dust den that used to be a casket factory. some of the panels are in thin long shapes and i've been thinking of just painting an arm or hand. i immediately recalled this above piece 'promises promises'. i love it for so many reasons, the honey comb, the scissors, the tattoos......
xo.

or, maybe, the bees repair the heart...

Georgeous! I love the combination of the stark graphic tattoos and the masterful realism of the bees. And of course I can't go past anyting with scissors in it.

Wow. This piece? Wonderful. I love the scissors cutting the honeycomb. I can almost smell this painting and it smells like lilacs and dust and sugar. Love it.
