the judas kiss.

yesterday i had the chance to visit the shared studio of philly artists monique ligons and bird reynolds (who is also an epic tattoo artist) to see their new work for their upcoming show at the toothless cat gallery. monique was working on a series of biblical paintings with insects staring in the famous roles of the bible. this (detail) painting of a praying mantis as jesus / scorpion as judas won my heart. to take a peek at the rest of the visit, check out the toothless cat blog.
