books as veins/blood/bones.

Photobucket

this list has been murderous to compile. i'm trying to keep each section limited to contemporary books (aside from 1 patron saint) & to 10 authors in each form. (although i'm sure this will change, i'm already breaking out in hives at the pressure of stunting.) the arrangement is spontaneous. i haven't added any commentary on my choices, but i will if you think it's helpful. i'll be adding more posts over the week/ weeks.

part i: short stories:
iii. anthony doerr: the shell collector / memory wall

iv. matthew derby: super flat times

vi. flannery o'connor: a good man is hard to find

viii. angela carter: the bloody chamber

x. victoria lancelotta: here in the world

xii. brian evenson: the wavering knife

xiv. diane williams: excitability

x. lynne tillman: this is it

The Bloody Chamber is an excellent book! Twisted fairy tales. So imaginative.
