the above piece 'sweetheart come' by one of my favorite artists, liza corbett, is on the very top of my holiday wish list. it reminds me of lily dale & seances & of course, that weird dinner scene in my all time favorite movie/muse, beetlejuice. take a peek at some other incredibly affordable works she has over at anno domini gallery.

fresh blood for the lunar eclipse.

i've been saving this piece, forget me not, to unveil tonight, in honor of the lunar eclipse during the winter solstice. this bracelet is made from a cast snake rib bone, waxed together forming conjoined twins. it's also a companion piece to my show that debuted in october, darker, my love, as a nod to beetlejuice as a metaphor for those we've lost and don't want to forget.

"forget me not"

if i've seemed quite on here lately, it's due to hermiting myself away in my studio making paintings for next week's show. if you live in SF, i'd love to meet you! this show has been the culmination of feelings i've had for two years, since the death of my father. as personal as it's ispiration is, it's also partly inspired by my recent trip to lily dale as well as the beetlejuice movie & cartoons. the 'charachter' of the paintings is lydia from beetlejuice, i felt she best served as a metaphor for a heroine who is able to live within both the natural & supernatural worlds as well as communicating with those that live in the 'neitherworld'. the show also features the haunting vignettes of writer danielle vogel, & i feel her writing compliments the work perfectly. if you don't live near SF, the show will be up on loved to death's website & you can also contact them directly if you're interested in any of the work. there will also be a few prints available for sale opening night. hope to meet some of you!

haunted photo lab

i've been keeping this secret from here for far too long....i don't remember how i stumbled upon it, but this japanese site that i've named old photo lab quickly turns any photo you upload into a more ghostly,victorian tin-type image. i recently rediscovered it when i was reentering my link list. this editorial photo reminds me of what lydia from beetlejuice might look like in modern day or if she was teleported into a bram stoker novel after the photo lab.....
