dark feathers.

crow girl

even the edges of me are vanquished.
every bone a dull throb, a lock to an unopened door.
the best of me is hidden, feathered.

what does your quiver hold ?

my mouth waters over these new pieces in progress by philly artist jeremy hush, which will be for his upcoming show at loved to death's articulated gallery in march. these little previews make me long for the summer days i spent in trees, knees dirty and hair tangled on the look out for the supernatural. . . . so in a way, they make me miss home & the forests near the sea. looking forward to seeing the full body of work before it leaves for SF.

a perfect pairing of artists, jeremy hush & liza corbett, are showing together at loved to death's articulated gallery. each dreamscape contains an individual cosmos with a well developed fantastical visual language, with liza's focusing on the supernatural elements she began developing in her last show whilst hush's work features the ball point pen drawings / watercolors he is becoming known for. i'd like to slip into either world and meander for a while amongst the bones and birds and snakes.

my adventurer friend jeremy hush scales walls to mine abandoned, haunted places, carrying organ pipes and bone and other precious debris home to compose his world of lost and forgotten things. he draws with a ballpoint pen, tender yet sharp images, imbued with the ghosts of clockworks, pale hands bent in prayer to unknown gods and the damp feathers of dark birds. i love his work and above are his newest pieces from 'a threaded whisper' showing now at philly's part time studios

my year and a half tenure as co-owner and curator at the toothless cat gallery is coming to a close this saturday night with a two person show featuring my friend jeremy hush, who is amazing at many things; road trips, archery, mining abandoned houses as well as being an absolute genius with a ball point pen. many of his works recruit characters from his adventurous life spent traveling on the road as well as decaying debris paired with steam punk details. he also has quite the collection of interesting things which i discovered while visiting his studio. his show is this saturday from 6-10 at the toothless cat. if you live in philly, i hope to see you there!
