the one lady show over at the black apple has just released a new set of prints from her online show 'milkland'. the pale, milk skinned girls in this new series appear peacefully at work or play in creamy shaded dreamscapes. they often appear alone or paired with equally milky creatures and albino friends. the muted color palette marks a sophisticated departure for miss emily martin; she seems in even more control of her colors, using them to set a serene tone for the inhabitants of her imagined world. the soothing and curious effect they have on their viewers make the pieces suitable for a nursery or in my case, my own world of art clutter and books.
