'neo-grotesque' is a term that's picking up some steam in the contemporary art community. while i think this type of art has been forged for generations now it's interesting it finally has a proper "art" term. i plan on posting a longer essay on this soon, but for now, here's a peek at kevin llewellyn's new show 'the unsaid' at kat von d's new gallery space 'wonderland'. the show is a stunning collection of expertly rendered portraits centered around death and sex and features a striking & complex moody color scheme that pops with hot pinks and teals. the luscious tattooed women are shrouded by darkness and cradling bloody hearts & fetal skeletons, drawing the fine line between what is beautiful and what is horrific.
